Musician, TV producer, promotor and founder of the Berlin Punk Museum, there’s not a lot that Taquila Mockingbird hasn’t tried her hand at finds Louder Than War’s Sophie Sparham.
A well-known figure on the LA punk music scene, Taquila created the Punk Museum in 2011 as a pop-up space in LA for her favourite artists.
Together with Svenja Block and Valerie Darmoris, Taquila is now bringing her vision to Berlin and has begun a punk museum in Germany’s capital. The museum’s focus will be on past and present Berlin punk culture and worldwide punk rock connections, punk art photography, memorabilia, and rarities.
Taquila said: “The Museums are online now. Currently, I work with UCLA in the Punk Archives. The museums have different people heading them in each city I set up the infrastructure to keep my friends together and energized. We commandeered Art galleries and had shows. I’ve even used the Catholic Church as a venue by booking the Blessed Sacrament Carnival with Kim Fowley, the founder of the Runaways, as my host.”
The museum is looking to have a permanent exhibition space in a post Covid world. They plan to start their Berlin Punk Museum interview series with special guests in 2021. So keep an eye out!
