Atopos is the first signpost to the tenth album of the remarkable Icelander.
“Are these not just excuses to not connect? Our differences are irrelevant”. Although the song was composed during one of the lockdowns, the first lines address the complexity of a relationship regardless of the external circumstances.
Talking to The Guardian earlier, Björk revealed that the record is largely inspired by gabber. Featuring the elements of this notoriously “aggressive” genre, the song has an instant effect, similar to that experience when one sees a volcanic eruption for the first time. The sonic intensity of Atopos is reinforced by the brass and reaches its climax with the pummeling bass drum.
Björk’s album Fossora will come out by the end of 2022.
