A lot of band hiatuses hurt, but for certain indie fans, few sting worse than that of the Postal Service, the indie-pop supergroup made up of Ben Gibbard, producer Jimmy Tamborello and Jenny Lewis. After releasing their one and only album Give Up in 2003, they largely remained inactive, save for a 2013 10th anniversary tour. It looks like they were just waiting for another major anniversary mark to get the band back on the road, though.

Next year, to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Give Up, the Postal Service are hitting the road with none other than Gibbard’s other beloved band Death Cab for Cutie, as 2023 also marks the 20th anniversary of their breakout record Transatlanticism. To celebrate the major milestones, the acts will perform those records in full, with Gibbard appearing in each headlining set.

Most recently, Death Cab put out their 10th studio album Asphalt Meadows, which they have been touring extensively throughout 2022 and will continue to support in the first half of 2022 throughout the U.S., U.K. and Europe. They’ll hit the road with the Postal Service come September 2023. Tickets for the unprecedented tour will become available for presale on Dec. 14, with the remaining tickets going on sale to the general public on Dec. 16.
