DE’WAYNE unleashes lively new video for “I Know Something”—watch

DE’WAYNE is back with his first new piece of music in 2021 called “I Know Something.”

On Wednesday, he released a lively video for the new single that proves meeting your significant other’s family for the first time doesn’t always go the way you planned.

It’s been a minute since we last heard new music from DE’WAYNE. Back in June, the Hopeless Records artist called for unity and change in America with his powerful single “National Anthem.” Soon after, he returned with his explosive song “Radio-Active.” As well, he joined the likes of Rage Against The Machine‘s Tom Morello and Anti-Flag for the politically-charged track “A Dying Plea Vol. 1,” which was released on Election Day.

Now, DE’WAYNE is offering a taste of his new music with the lively new single “I Know Something.” For DE’WAYNE, the catchy song is a direct “reflection of his nature.”

“I find that most times before anything happens, like a big change, you personally have to embody that,” he says. “Write it down or even say it out loud… and that’s exactly what I’m doing on this record. Knowing something is coming or about to happen is very exciting especially when you’re the first one that believes in it.”

Accompanying “I Know Something” is an entertaining new video where DE’WAYNE meets his significant other’s family for the first time. As it turns out, the whole ordeal ends up being something very different than he expected.

For the project, DE’WAYNE threw seriousness out the window and poked fun at the idea of impressing a family that isn’t your own. As a result, the “I Know Something” video offers a carefree alternative to what can happen in a sometimes awkward situation.

“The video was about allowing myself to put my guard down and poke fun at the things going on around me,” he continues. “I didn’t want to take it too seriously. I love the idea of impressing parents, cause it’s so damn weird to me but I truly think it’s something you have to do your whole life and I love challenges! For the video, the thought of pouring champagne and dancing on their table seemed way more fire than talking with them about a degree I don’t have.”

Back in July, we learned that DE’WAYNE has a collaboration with Waterparks on the way. He revealed that he and Awsten Knight worked together on a new song that is a “banger for sure.” However, neither artist is sure which project it may be released under.

“I definitely have something with Waterparks coming out,” DE’WAYNE said. “It’s insane. I don’t know where it’s going to go or when it’s going to come out or whose project it is going to go on but me and Awsten have a banger for sure.”

As well, it looks like Knight is putting his rap skills to the test on the upcoming collab.

“I’ll just say that Awsten is snapping,” DE’WAYNE said. “Awsten can really rap. I don’t know if his fans know that. So it’s some of that going on.”
