The rumors surrounding the new Spider-Man film are becoming quite exhausting for Marvel fans. At the forefront of speculation are the theories that both Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire are reprising their Peter Parker roles for Spider-Man 3. Both Sony and, more recently, Marvel have responded to these casting rumors. However, neither company has confirmed whether or not they are actually true.

Back in November, Camila Pacheco, who is the Executive Marketing Director of Sony Pictures Entertainment in Brazil, announced at a conference that the first look at Spider-Man 3 was set to arrive sometime in December. For now, fans are still waiting for that sneak peek to actually make its debut.

However, fans did still get a little glimpse at the upcoming movie last month. Sony Channel Latin America posted a video that teased the possible Garfield-Maguire-Holland reunion. The video was reportedly never supposed to be posted and was swiftly taken down.

Over a month after the Sony blunder, it’s still unknown how or why the video was posted. Despite this, the teaser is still online for MCU fans to see. There are some theories that this teaser is actually the first look fans were supposed to see in December.

Now, it looks like Tom Holland may have just revealed when the first look at Spider-Man 3 is finally arriving. This week, he shared a cryptic tweet with the date Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021.

Although Holland does have other projects – Uncharted and Cherry – on the way, Marvel fans are convinced this date has something to do with Spider-Man 3. For some, they theorize the first look at Spider-Man 3 is finally arriving on Thursday.

Spider-Man 3 is set to arrive on Dec. 17, 2021.

More on Spider-Man 3:

Filming for Spider-Man 3 began back in October. Between then and now, a whole lot has happened. Shortly after the actors received the film’s script, Jacob Batalon seemingly revealed that the new movie has a major twist, not even the cast was expecting.

Despite Marvel Studios‘ efforts to keep some Spider-Man 3 secrets locked up, a lot of information has already been revealed. Earlier last year, we learned that Jamie Foxx’s Electro is back for the new film. The villain originally appeared in Marc Webb‘s 2014 The Amazing Spider-Man 2 alongside Andrew Garfield.

As well, Benedict Cumberbatch is officially reprising his Doctor Strange role for Spider-Man 3. Doctor Strange is set to become Peter Parker‘s new mentor following the tragic death of Tony Stark in Avengers: Endgame.

More recently, reports emerged that Alfred Molina is reprising his role as Doctor Octopus in the upcoming film. Molina originally starred as the villainous character in Sam Raimi‘s 2004 Spider-Man 2 with Tobey Maguire. This recent casting seemingly supports the theories that characters from past films are making a return in Spider-Man 3.

Earlier this week, Marvel head Kevin Feige finally addressed that Peter Parker theory. During an interview with Comic Book, Feige acknowledged the theory, but remained coy about whether or not it is true. Ultimately, Feige said some of the things he reads online might be true.

“I’ve read some things,” he says. “I’m not sure I’ve read all things. The fun thing about online speculation when it comes to our stuff is how sometimes it couldn’t be more off the mark and sometimes it’s shockingly close, and that’s held true for the last few years. But saying which is which would take all the fun out of everything.”
