Pearl Jam recently added Josh Klinghoffer from Red Hot Chili Peppers to be a live member for the band on their 2022 tour, as he was for their select 2021 performances. He is set to open the Pearl Jam shows under the banner of Pluralone which is his first-ever solo performance.

Josh Klinghoffer said he faces trouble playing the old Pearl Jam songs

Klinghoffer said there was some “push and pull” when it came to his role in Pearl Jam’s headline spots. He said he can’t play the ‘early songs’ and ‘Ten’ is the band’s first album which was released on August 27, 1991, through Epic Records.

It seems that as it is the oldest album, he will not be able to play the songs from that album. Here is what he said during an interview with Spin:

“Some people would have me up there the whole show,” he said. “I agree that I don’t need to be up there for early songs and stuff they don’t need any help with. The one great thing about them is that they’ve never said no. At rehearsal, they trust me, which is the best thing about it. They trust me to know what to play and when to play it. No one has ever told me not to do something.”

It has been more than two years after becoming the first major artist to postpone a tour at the outset of the pandemic, Pearl Jam has rescheduled North American shows in support of their 2020 album Gigaton as part of a two-leg tour, the first of which will begin May 3 in San Diego and wrap May 20 in Las Vegas. A fall leg kicks off Sept. 1 in Quebec City, Quebec, and closes Sept. 22 in Denver.

It has been noted that the planned Baltimore show from the original routing has been canceled due to renovations at Royal Farms Arena, but new California dates have been added in Fresno and Sacramento, Las Vegas, and Camden, N.J.
