SuzukiThe film follows the life of legendary vocalist, Damo Suzuki over five years, as “he confronts cancer and attempts to continue a never-ending global tour.”

Leeds-based director Michelle Heighway will be bringing her documentary Energy to various venues across the UK later this year – a film seven years in the making, exhibiting an intimate portrayal of the musician’s life, alongside archival footage of the incredible musical experiences of Suzuki’s live shows.

Energy premieres at London’s Rio on 30th October with Doc’n Roll Film Festival – buy tickets here. The full list of screenings can be found below.

Damo Suzuki initially found the attention of music lovers and critics with his place in landmark Krautrock group Can, putting his vocal stamp on the band’s trio of albums that rank among their most beloved and exploratory. Since his departure from the German musical pioneers in 1973, Suzuki has constantly toured the world and collaborated with musicians as diverse as his own vocal style, from Black Midi to The Sound Carriers.

Michelle Heighway has previously directed and produced Mr. Somebody, a moving portrait of the Huddersfield eccentric Jake Mangle-Wurzel, which premiered at Sheffield Doc Fest.
