We are just under a week away from seeing the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers go head-to-head at the 2021 Super Bowl. Of course, the entire week leading up to Super Bowl Sunday is set to be filled with celebratory events including a new performance fromGreen Day.
The punk rock trio are headlining the special NFL Honors ceremony on Saturday, Feb. 6.
Now, it looks like fans will get to see Green Day perform before the Hella Mega Tour kicks off this June. Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre CoolandMike Dirntare performing at the NFL Honors event on Saturday, Feb. 6. Due to the pandemic, the entire event is going virtual this year and is pre-recorded. The NFL special begins at 9 P.M. ET/PT and can be watched on CBS. Steve Harvey is hosting the ceremony for the third consecutive year.
“With the unprecedented nature of this year, we are excited to bring the 10th annual NFL Honors show to life in a unique format,” Mark Quenzel of the NFL said in a statement. “We look forward to producing an unforgettable show that will celebrate the game and its brightest stars in an entertaining fashion.”
The Weeknd is set to perform for this year’s Super Bowl halftime show. The set will be performed live and is reportedly going to be between 12 to 13 minutes long. As well, it was recently revealed that The Weeknd spent $7 million of his own money to make this coveted performance happen as he envisioned.
As for Green Day, they’ve seen a rise in popularity on TikTokover the past few weeks. Conservative and Donald Trump-supporting TikTokers have been posting content using the iconic song “American Idiot.” However, Green Day fans and the internet are reminding them what that song actually means.
