Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it’s been a while since we last saw Green Day return to the stage. The band were set to tour around the world with Fall Out Boy and Weezer on the Hella Mega Tour last year. However, the run has been postponed until later this year. Although 2021 concerts and festivals are already being canceled, Weezer’s Rivers Cuomo recently revealed he is still preparing for the Hella Mega Tour this summer.

Now, it looks like fans will get to see Green Day perform before the Hella Mega Tour kicks off this June. Billie Joe Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirnt are performing at the NFL Honors event on Saturday, Feb. 6. Due to the pandemic, the entire event is going virtual this year and is pre-recorded. The NFL special begins at 9 P.M. ET/PT and can be watched on CBS. Steve Harvey is hosting the ceremony for the third consecutive year.

As for Green Day, they’ve seen a rise in popularity on TikTok over the past few weeks. Conservative and Donald Trump-supporting TikTokers have been posting content using the iconic song “American Idiot.” However, Green Day fans and the internet are reminding them what that song actually means.
