On Saturday, Feb. 20, the trio debuted their new song “Here Comes The Shock” exclusively during the NHL Lake Tahoe game. The new track premiered within a highlight reel of the top plays of the first quarter of the 2020-21 NHL season. As it turns out, Green Day’s music will actually be featured through the rest of the NHL 2021 season as part of a two-year deal.
Soon after its NHL debut, the song was put out in North America before being released worldwide. Green Day have also unleashed their new video for “Here Comes The Shock” which gives punk rock fans the ultimate aerobics workout.
For the video, Armstrong, Tre Cool and Mike Dirntteamed up with Hilken Mancini and Punk Rock Aerobics. The entire visual features Mancini rocking out to “Here Comes The Shock” during an energized aerobics routine that is even equipped with a shiny fanny pack.
“Here Comes The Shock” marks Green Day’s first original song to be released since 2020’s Father Of All Motherfuckers. However, fans were still treated to some other new music over the past year. Back in November, Armstrong put out No Fun Mondays, an LP made up of the iconic covers he performed in quarantine.
