illuminati hotties are back with another single, “u v v p,” from their upcoming album, Let Me Do One More. The record is set to drop Oct. 1 via Snack Shack Tracks in partnership with Hopeless Records.

“u v v p”  features Buck Meek of Big Thief. It’s the type of track you’d want to hear in a teenage romcom from the early 2000s or while sunning your back on the beach. You can almost smell the coconut sunscreen as you listen to the surfrock-inspired song. Reverb-heavy electric guitars and distinguished drum beats mimic ocean waves crashing on the shore while the tranquil vocals lull you into sweet bliss.

illuminati hotties is the project of writer and producer Sarah Tudzin. “u v v p” (feat. Buck Meek) is the third track to be released off Let Me Do One More. The first glimpse at the album came with “MMMOOOAAAAAYAYA” and “Pool Hopping,” the latter of which was accompanied by a fun-loving video.

Tudzin confirmed in a press release that the rest of Let Me Do One More will share the same easygoing summer verve as the first three releases.

“The songs tell a story of my gremlin ass running around L.A., sneaking into pools at night, messing up and starting over, begging for attention for one second longer and asking the audience to let me do one more,” Tudzin says.

Let Me Do One More is a sonic left turn from illuminati hotties’ last grungier release, Free I.H: This Is Not The One You’ve Been Waiting For. As the record’s name suggests, the collection wasn’t originally supposed to be released after their debut, Kiss Yr Frenemies, in 2018. However, complications with their label reportedly changed their plans.

Tudzin explained her attitude toward genre in a 2020 interview with Stereogum following the release of Free I.H: This Is Not The One You’ve Been Waiting For.

“Honestly, bands are generally typecast with the first record or the first two records they make, and the public expects a certain sound from them,” Tudzin says. “But when you’re a rapper or producer or DJ, there are no rules, and you can put whatever you want into a collection of works or drop unfinished songs onto a mixtape. And that’s fine—their fans are into that. With rock bands, I don’t know why, but they’re expected to present a fully realized masterwork. Rappers are too, but they just make so much more stuff, and when you’re in the pop world, every single day you’re doing one or more sessions to write more material. And you end up with things that are not a full-blown track that could end up on an LP but are pretty cool, and you want to show to people.

“I think what I will hopefully learn from the reaction [from Free I.H: This Is Not The One You’ve Been Waiting For] is that I feel really lucky to position illuminati hotties in a way where we can sorta do anything,” she continues. “I don’t think we’ve been boxed into one particular style of music, and, especially after this comes out, there’s just so many options, which is fun.

She also spoke about the future of illuminati hotties’ sound.

“I don’t always want to make guitar music, and I don’t always want to make indie guitar music,” Tudzin says. “This has allowed me to stretch in so many ways, and if it still feels authentic and genuine to everybody who listens to it, then it’ll open up more doors for what we can do musically. But I’ve never felt boxed into a style. I don’t think about music like that when it’s stuff that I’m making.”

The track is accompanied by a karaoke-style lyric video. Check out the video below, and preorder Let Me Do One More here
