Like the majority of you, all of us in the Philadelphia area are staying at home, learning to adapt to our “new normal.” MAGNET is checking in with local musicians to see how and what they’re doing during this unprecedented time. Photos by Chris Sikich.

Kimball (drums): COVID has made everything feel surreal. Nothing put out an album in October (The Great Dismal) and obviously haven’t been able to tour or play any shows surrounding it.

Aside from the monetary impact of not touring, it has just felt bizarre not being able to play our new songs out live. Not that we need validation on our music, but it has always been great to make a record and then see people reacting to it live.

Not being able to perform has left kind of a hollow unfulfilled feeling after putting so much effort into creating an LP we’re all proud of.

Heard (bass): I’ve got a love/hate relationship with the quarantine. It’s obvious that it sucks not being able to travel and play shows for the LP, but it’s presented time to better myself as a musician and as a person.

I’ve been able to spend this time with my family and focus on raising my son. Time I wouldn’t have had if we were touring.
