Isolation Drills: The Vaughns

Like the majority of you, all of us in the Philadelphia area are staying at home, learning to adapt to our “new normal.” MAGNET is checking in with local musicians to see how and what they’re doing during this unprecedented time. Photos by Chris Sikich.

Anna Lies and Ryan Kenter: With both of us working from home and Anna’s work in concert promotion being especially slow, we tried to use the extra time to improve as musicians. As a band, we have historically been more focused on live-performance settings, so this year forced us to work on other skills.

Having time at home to practice our vocals, record demos and work on songwriting has been one small silver lining in a challenging year and hopefully will make us better performers in the long run.

We were also lucky to finish and release a new EP, rom-coms + take out, which helped to keep our minds busy and gave us some relief from the ongoing pandemic.
