Earlier this week, Johnson andOli Sykesconfirmed a remix of the Sempiternalclassic was officially on its way. Sykes teased the new collab on TikTok, joking with Jeris about misidentifying the release date. Now, the new song is out, available via Spotify.
News of this collaboration has been brewing for some time. Last month, Jeris debuted a remix of “Can You Feel My Heart.” His version offered a major rework of the song, massively upping the tempo and adding brand new lyrics.
Shortly after the remix was released, Sykes shared his enthusiastic reaction in a TikTok duet. His caption hinted at the possibility of a collaboration.
“holy shit WE LOVE THIS Jeris check ur inbox let’s do something”
The new collaboration adds even more to the original. This version ramps up the intensity to another level, layering heavy instrumentals on top of the track. The song comes complete with a trippy new animated visualizer on Spotify.
According to Johnson, collaborating with BMTH was an easy process.
“After BMTH saw my remix, Oli dueted and commented on my TikTok basically asking for the stems, and I was just like holy fuck, OK,” Johnson exclusively tells Alternative Press. “I got a hold of them and sent off the track just the way I had it. Then, we just started going back and forth. They would send a version, I’d send a new one back and we just did that a few times until it felt right. They were so dope to work with ’cause they were just so open to letting me go nuts with any ideas I had. That mentality is what rock needs—an open mind and an adventurous spirit.”
Johnson has also been putting out original music in 2021. The artist just dropped a new video for his song “under,” featured on his recent my sword EP. The video starts off with a minimal throwback feel, before gradually descending into a wash of psychedelic visuals.
Not to be outmatched, Bring Me The Horizon have also been busy musically and on social media. Earlier this month, the group revealed how they were able to sneak an elephant noise into their latest single “Teardrops.”
