Narcissus have been honing their craft for quite a few years now and the folk at LTW have been keeping a close eye on their progress. Check out this past interview for instance back in 2018 and the review of their debut single on 42’s Records here. I saw them live a few times back in the good old days of gigs and they pack a fucker of a punch with a large sound of clever indie electronica that could fill stadiums. For fucks sake they’ve even supported Suede!
Narciss mouthpiece Ben Guy states:
“At a time when creative arts are being dismantled before our eyes by those that don’t understand nor care, Cuttin’ Thru Red Tape serves as a blistering call to arms & very timely reminder to cling on to those creative passions & pursuits like never before as it is these that truly define who we are & what we do. They are likely to have been there with you for both the greatest & darkest times of your life and so lean into them now more than ever as they will not let you down”.
This track has a massive sweeping guitar riff backed with swirling keyboards and the beautiful vocals of Ben Guy dueting with the up and coming Becki Fishwick, who will surely be guesting on some big hits in the future. The Duke n Bass mix is a great take on dancefloor breakbeat that bust some moves big time. Some great samples going on and a funked up joy. Another great North West band that have the stamina to keep hanging on for the post lockdown celebrations of live music. They break away from indie landfill with their unique take on grand guitar driven electronica, alongside the likes of Working Mens Club / A Certain Ratio and this amazing new Northern scene that’s straining against the straight jacket of this life threatening virus, ready for a mass release.
