NOFX are back with another taste of their forthcoming 14th studio album Single Album.

On Feb. 2, NOFX unleashed a powerful lyric video for “Fuck Euphemism,” a track that addresses Fat Mike‘s sexuality and gender identity.

Last month, NOFX debuted the first song off of their forthcoming album called “Linewleum,” which features Avenged Sevenfold. The track and its accompanying video pay tribute to all of the NOFX fans around the world that have covered their classic “Linoleum” over the years.

Now, NOFX are back with another preview of their new LP. On Tuesday, they debuted “Fuck Euphemism,” a song all about sexuality and gender identity. Fat Mike told Spin that his experiences with being misidentified over the years eventually inspired the song.

“I think it’s a very important song for the conversation with the trans community and the LBGT community,” he says. “I consider myself queer and a part of it, so I can sing a song like this. [I] live a BDSM lifestyle and I’m a crossdresser, so it did bother me when people were calling me a cis male. [I] like the whole thing of defining yourself using your own terms, because I’m a punk rocker first, and then a submissive crossdressing male. The transgender community and the gay community are taking a stance on how we want to be known, and I’m going to be known as a certain way.”

For Fat Mike, “Fuck Euphemism” is about more than just his gender identity. Ultimately, he believes this song argues that people are people and they should identity however they want to.

“But I think the most important thing in this song is that it doesn’t need to be that way, because really you’re just a person,” he continues. “In part of the song, I say ‘Call me ‘per’ for the night,’ where ‘per’ is short for person. I think that is really the term that people should be embracing, like ‘I was with per last night’ or ‘I love per’ because it doesn’t give away anything. It’s singular, and isn’t that what people want to be known as — as a person? They don’t want to be labeled.”

Elsewhere in the Spin interview, Fat Mike reveals that fans can expect this next album to be much darker compared to NOFX’s past releases. Why? Well, he wrote most of the material before he went to rehab.

“This album is darker because it’s the first album I’ve ever written and recorded it while I was in depression,” he says. “I never had depression until a couple of years ago, and this is what happens when you write lyrics at four in the morning when you’re on vodka and coke. You face your demons and you sing about personal things. What’s cool about this record is that I wasn’t sure about it when I finished it. All I knew was that I loved a few of the songs, but I didn’t know how people would respond to the album. So far, people are treating it very well, which just makes me so happy because I wasn’t sure since I wrote and recorded it while using drugs and booze the entire time.”

NOFX’s new album Single Album officially arrives on Feb. 26 and pre-orders are available here. For the 10-track album, NOFX worked with producers Bill Stevenson and Jason Livermore (Rise Against, Alkaline Trio).
