“People are [like], ‘I’m not taking the flu shot.’ You know what? You can give me anything, but I’m not gonna be number one on that fucking new vaccine,” he said. “I don’t want to be the first one to wake up with a set of fucking antlers in the morning.”
Then, earlier this month, Ozzy explained the seriousness of him getting the vaccine on SiriusXM.
“I want to get the shot, but… I look at it this way,” he said. “If I don’t get it, if I don’t have the shot, right? I know there’s side effects and bullshit and… all these different conspiracies about the fucking vaccine. I look at it like this — if I don’t get the shot and I get the virus, there’s a good chance I ain’t going to be here.”
Now, Ozzy has confirmed he’s officially received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. This week, theBlack Sabbath frontman appeared on Loose Women to give an update on his health. When asked if he had received the vaccine, he said “of course.” As well, he shared that his arm is a bit sore and he feels incredibly relieved.
“It was like being stabbed. No, my arm was a bit sore yesterday but I’m glad I got it, you know,” he says. “As soon as I got it I felt relieved.”
The vaccine arrives just months after Ozzy revealed he suffers from the lung condition emphysema, which heightens his risk of death if he contracts COVID-19.
“The surgery I had knocked the crap out of me,” he told the Guardian late last year. “But I broke my neck in a quad bike accident [in 2003] and when that healed it squeezed my spinal column, so I was getting all kinds of weird things happening to me. I’d be on stage and I’d suddenly get a sharp shock down one side of my body.”
“A couple of years ago I didn’t even know who Post Malone was,” Ozzy says. “Since then we’ve worked together on two studio tracks and have performed together twice. Understandably COVID-19 made it difficult to get together to shoot a music video for ‘It’s A Raid.’ So, we opted for this wildly imagined animated video for the final single from the Ordinary Man album.”
“There’s a bunch of people involved,” Watt told Guitar World. “I can’t say for sure until the end, but I started doing a bunch of basic tracks with Chad and Robert Trujillo, who used to play in Ozzy’s band. And Taylor Hawkins also came in and played a bunch on the record as well. Which adds a different flair – it kind of harkened back to Ozzy’s ’80s era, in a great way. And I think it’s so cool for a rock fan to be able to listen to half an album with Chad Smith on drums. And then you flip it over and you get to hear Taylor Hawkins.”
