It’s hard to believe it’s been TWO decades since Papa Roach released their smash hit “Last Resort.” In celebration of the anniversary, Papa Roach have teamed up with TikTok star Jeris Johnson for a special new remix of the song.

Papa Roach and Jeris Johnson have also joined forces for a music video for “Last Resort (Reloaded)” which arrives on Thursday, Jan. 28.

This “Last Resort” remix has been a long time coming. Last year, Papa Roach revealed that they have actually recorded three new versions of “Last Resort.” Following the 20th anniversary of Infest, Jacoby Shaddix told Rock Sound that the new versions feature plenty of guest vocals.

“We also did a re-record of ‘Last Resort’ which we did with some guests that are going to appear on it,” he said. “I can’t drop the names yet but we’ve got some top-notch sick people on this.”

At the time, Papa Roach were unsure if they were going to combine all of the “Last Resort” versions into one final remix.

“We’re not sure if it’s all on one track or there’s going to be three different versions,” he said. “We’re coming to that point now. It’s going to be fun to play with and a cool way to celebrate the track and that’s coming soon.”

Then, in November, Shaddix and Jeris Johnson further teased one of the remixes on social media. The behind-the-scenes video offered a sneak peek into the genre-bending remix.

Now, the “Last Resort” remix with Jeris Johnson is finally here. “Last Resort (Reloaded)” elevates the catchy elements from the original song while infusing Jeris Johnson’s vocals and influences throughout. Collectively, “Last Resort (Reloaded)” offers a refreshed sound to the song that had the most played video on TRL in 2000.

Papa Roach and Jeris Johnson are dropping the “Last Resort (Reloaded)” music video on Thursday, Jan. 28. The visual is set to reimagine the single’s iconic music video and encapsulate the energy of mosh pits we haven’t felt in a long time.

Along with the new remix, Papa Roach are working on a follow-up to 2019’s Who Do You Trust?. Back in May 2020, Shaddix told Zippo Encore Live with Jose Mangin that fans can expect to hear plenty of heavy songs on their next album.

“Some of it’s just heavy and nuts and just aggressive with these massive, big, pummeling riffs,” he said. “And then there’s other stuff that’s that kind of experimental all-over-the-place-type stuff. We wrote this other song, like a ballad, where it’s just guitar and vocals, and it’s so stirring and emotional. This time has definitely stirred up something in the band that’s coming out really cool in the music.”

Outside of music, Shaddix is officially making his acting debut in the upcoming thriller The Retaliators. Along with Shaddix, members of Motley CrueFive Finger Death Punch and Escape The Fate also appear in the new project. Last month, viewers got a glimpse of the cameos in a thrilling new teaser. The Retaliators is set to arrive sometime this year.
