It has been nearly two months since Foo Fighters drummer Taylor Hawkins sadly passed away at the age of 50. The band was due to play on the same day of his death. They were scheduled to play at the Festival Estereo Picnic in Bogota, Colombia. This led to the band reportedly canceling the rest of their South American tour. It has been noted that his friends and fans all over the world are still trying to understand what led to his sudden passing in a Colombian hotel.

Pearl Jam drummer talks about Taylor Hawkins

A thoroughly reported story from Rolling Stone has emerged, which gathered stories from the last days of Hawkins’ life through interviews with 20 people who were close to the drummer. The most illuminating recount, comes early in the piece from Pearl Jam drummer and Hawkins collaborator Matt Cameron, who said that Hawkins, “…had a heart-to-heart with Dave [Grohl] and, yeah, he told me that he ‘couldn’t f*cking do it anymore’… I guess they did come to some understanding, but it just seems like the touring schedule got even crazier after that.”

Multiple reports had also previously stated that Hawkins lost consciousness onboard a plane in Chicago, though news reports from the time described him anonymously as “a member of Foo Fighters.”

The cause of Hawkins’ death is still not officially confirmed, but there are reports. ‘According to those close to him, the death could be related to the consumption of drugs.’ The Daily Mail reported this alleged statement. He had a history of drug abuse.

White powder ‘similar to cocaine’,  and hallucinogens, were allegedly found in the five-star Casa Medina hotel room of Hawkins. Highly respected Colombian journalist Luis Carlos Velez, the Bogota-based director of radio station FM recently claimed that a police officer who entered Hawkins’ room had told prosecutors he saw a ‘cocaine-like’ white powder. Foo Fighters have canceled their 2022 tour dates.
