More on Tom DeLonge
Tom DeLonge’s foundations in pop-punkgo back to the ’90s with the formation of blink-182, where he served as a guitarist and vocalist. Though active for most of the decade, the band made their big break in 1999 with their third studio album, Enema Of The State. They would go on to record and release three more studio albums prior to DeLonge’s most recent departure.
The term “most recent” is an important distinction. DeLonge had formerly quit the band in 2005, a couple of years after the release of their hit Untitled record. Without a replacement for their guitarist, the band went on a hiatus. During this time, DeLonge founded his current outfit, Angels & Airwaves. Their debut album, We Don’t Need To Whisper, was released in 2006.
The founding trio of blink-182 reunited again in 2009 to write and record their 2011 album, Neighborhoods. During this time, DeLonge continued work with Angels & Airwaves, releasing both records that now comprise Love, Pt. 1 & 2. DeLonge stepped back from blink-182 again to pursue other projects in 2015. The split came shortly before the production of their seventh album, California. Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skibahas since filled his role as the band’s guitarist.
