Emerging Manchester band Rosellas are back with a new single, Switch Off, which comes soon after signing a record deal with This Feeling. And with a busy schedule ahead for the rest of 2022 it seems that things are really starting to happen for this melodic guitar-based quintet who are definitely a band on the rise.

When Louder Than War reviewed Rosellas’ single, Over, back in February there was already a real sense of purpose and commitment within the band to take things to the next stage and there was little doubt they already had the back catalogue of songs and the talent to carry this off. With the recent signing of a record deal with This Feeling and a triumphant sold-out homecoming unplugged gig at The Whiskey Jar, Rosellas now follow all this up with their new single Switch Off.

Switch Off is another slice of classic 90’s inspired north-west indie with a modern twist. It’s driven along by syncopated drum patterns, jangling guitars and a strong bass line, overlaid with melodic chorus lines which have a distinct hook. It seems to be very much pitched in the positive by putting the past behind you with the directive to “switch off the moment lay it all to rest” followed by the promise that “soon you will discover the meaning of life to you”. And in the case of Rosellas, I think that is definitely the case.

Instantly memorable, Switch Off is the first song from a forthcoming EP entitled Somewhere Inbetween which was recorded at Big City Jacks in Bury and producer by Oliver Shillito. And following on from the huge promise that this band have been showing to their ever-growing fanbase over the past couple of years, things are really starting to happen for Rosellas with support slots for both Starsailor and Andrew Cushin together with a headline gig in Sheffield already lined up in the next couple of months.

Rosellas

There has never been a better time than now to catch the Rosellas live, with further singles likely to emerge from their forthcoming EP which promises moody guitar-heavy rock tracks, with soaring choruses backed up by some unbelievable rock’n’roll piano, all of which describes Rosellas perfectly. With all this going on, I am certain that Rosellas will discover the meaning of success in the very near future.
