The wait for new Senses Fail music is finally over. On Thursday, the band surprised fans with their blistering new song “Lush Rimbaugh.”

Over the years, Rush Limbaugh grew in popularity amongst conservatives due to his political and social views. However, the radio host failed to win over many people due to his past controversial, racist and misogynistic remarks. So far, it appears that the world has many different opinions and views following Limbaugh’s death on Wednesday including Senses Fail.

On Thursday, Senses Fail returned with “Lush Rimbaugh,” their first new piece of original music since 2018’s If There Is Light, It Will Find You. As it turns out, Senses Fail have a lot of thoughts about the late radio host. In fact, frontman Buddy Nielsen revealed that the new track is all about not caring Limbaugh has died.

“I used to write songs about killing women and people are offended I wrote a song about not caring Rush Limbaugh died.”

The savage new track is full of lyrics that really convey Nielsen and Senses Fail’s feelings towards Limbaugh.

“You spend your whole life trying to make others feel bad for things they can’t control,” Nielsen sings. “And now you’re dying clinging on to all the things you tell yourself but you know in your soul, you will be forgotten. You will be forgotten like the snow and the ice while basking in a warm summer sun.”

Although “Lush Rimbaugh” is Senses Fail’s first piece of original music in three years, they’ve still cranked out plenty of other content recently. Back in October, Senses Fail teamed up with Saves The Day for a Misfits split. The Through Being Ghoul split includes Senses Fail takes on “We Are 138” and “Attitude.” Meanwhile, Saves The Day infused their own influences and sound into their covers of “Some Kinda Hate” and “Where Eagles Dare.”

Then, following their Twitter beef with Trapt, Senses Fail unveiled two more new covers of “I Wish It Was Christmas Today” and “Donde Esta Santa Clause” just in time for Christmas.

Currently, fans are waiting for Senses Fail’s highly-anticipated next album. Back in January 2020, we learned that Senses Fail had entered the studio to work on their eighth studio album. At the time, Nielsen said that the album’s title will be Hell Is In Your Head. However, in March, they ended up revealing the record’s full title would be What The Thunder Said, Hell Is In Your Head.

Senses Fail also previously explained why they want to put Still Searching to bed with this new release. For Senses Fail, it’s time to shut the book on the character in Still Searching with this new album.

Over the past few months, Senses Fail have shared even more new details regarding their upcoming music. Back in December, they revealed another reason why their next album is similar to Still Searching. As well, Nielsen recently explained that this new LP is full of literary references.

“Our new record is smashed full of literary reference to Milton, Dostoevsky, T.S. Elliot, Walt Whitman & existentialism. It will be interesting to see who finds that interesting. Half the record is in major & half in minor. Half is based on The Wasteland & half on To Think of Time.
