Following the release of Slyder Smith & The Oblivion Kids’ debut album, Charm Offensive, in August 2022 which allowed Slyder to finally step out of the shadows and into the spotlight, Louder Than War now presents the video premiere of their latest single, The NeverEnding Story.

As a debut album, Charm Offensive demonstrated the versality in Slyder’s songwriting which was riddled with heavy riffs, big melodies and anthemic chorus lines giving it a huge sense of fun throughout as well as many commercial hooks. The inclusion of Slyder’s very own beefed-up version of The NeverEnding Story, the big pop anthem taken from the iconic 1984 film of the same name, was clearly something he had been considering for some time. And now Louder Than War brings you the dynamic video presentation of Slyder’s own take on this classic pop song.

As a song first conceived by Georgio Morodor which became a huge electronic pop hit for Limahl in the 80’s, before being covered extensively even by the likes of Def Leppard and Van Halen, Slyder has dusted down The NeverEnding Story and transformed it in barnstorming fashion with a more commercial rock angle with guest vocals provided by Nina Courson from Healthy Junkies. The seeds of this idea were first sown when Slyder first recorded an acoustic clip of the song for a friend’s son’s birthday because it meant a lot to them. Enjoying the experience so much he then developed the idea of doing it as a male/female duet and here we are now as Slyder continues to put his own stamp on the glam-pop scene.

The video features the band’s performance filmed by Wills Audio at the Buckley Tivoli theatre which was transformed into a fun concept video with additional footage and editing by producer Darren Stockford, paying homage to the era of the original 80’s hit.

Slyder Smith & The Oblivion Kids will be spreading their grit, glamour, emotion and possibly some glitter across various UK venues in December 2022. And as a bonus for anyone buying early bird tickets for the London show they will also get a free limited edition numbered cassette of the single, not to mention support from both Soho Dukes and Healthy Junkies.
