folklore also went on to debut at No.1 on Billboard‘s Alternative Albums chart. Additionally, 11 of the songs from the album landed on Billboard‘s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. “cardigan,” folklore‘s lead single, debuted at No. 1 on the chart with 34 million U.S. streams and 71,000 digital downloads.
When Swift surprise-released evermore on Dec. 11, it was quickly predicted that the album would see the same type of success on the charts. Now, it looks like those predictions were correct after all.
evermore has officially debuted at No.1 on the Alternative Albums chart. According to Nielsen Music/MRC Data, evermore sold 329,000 equivalent album units in the Dec. 11 – 17 week. Of that sum, 155,000 units were pure album sales.
evermore‘s 167,000-unit streaming equivalent count is now the second biggest for any entry on the Alternative Albums chart. Unsurprisingly, the record was previously set by folklore which accrued 218,000 units from streaming after its debut.
As well, folklore officially debuted at No.2 on the Alternative Albums chart this week, giving Taylor Swift the top two spots on the Billboard chart. Currently, evermore is also the No.1 album on the coveted Billboard 200.
Billboard‘s Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart is also full of evermore songs. In fact, all of the tracks apart from the country-leaning collab with Haim, appear on the chart. “Willow” is spending its second week on the chart, jumping to the No.1 spot.
Similarly, “Champagne Problems” is currently No. 3 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs chart. In all, Swift’s new material occupies seven of the chart’s top 10 spots.
Although Swift’s last two albums have seen massive success, it looks like that rumored third album may not be happening. Last week, Swift confirmed that the albumwoodvale doesn’t actually exist and explained how the phrase ended up on the folklore artwork.
