Back in November, the Harry Potter cast got together for a rare reunion to celebrate the anniversary of the first Harry Potter film. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone was officially released on Nov. 14, 2001 in the United States and marked what would become one of the most successful movie franchises in history.

Now, Felton is revealing some major secrets about the film most didn’t know about. He recently held a few Instagram Lives where he rewatched parts of the first film. Along with sharing some fun facts and behind-the-scenes secrets, Felton explained that his real-life grandpa actually appears in the movie. His grandpa, Nigel Anstey, played a minor character that pops up in various scenes in the Sorcerer’s Stone.

“This is Lee Jordan….and my grandpa, my real actual grandpa (on the left)”

Felton’s grandpa is actually known for something other than his Harry Potter appearance. Nigel Anstey is an award-winning geophysicist. Along with various published works to be proud of, the European Association of Geoscientists and Engineers has an annual award named after him.

Back in 2011, Felton even told Hollywood Reporter that he was only able to master that Draco Malfoy snarl because of his grandpa.

“My grandfather did help me a bit with that, learning how to do it,” he said. “It’s sort of the signature Draco expression and Grands had me practice a lot.”

Felton’s latest post arrives just days after rumors started swirling a Harry Potter television series is in the works. According to Variety, Warner Bros. is working on a new TV show that will air on HBO Max.

However, no writers or talent are currently attached to the project. As well, there are no specific details regarding the series’ plot. Some theorize the stage play Harry Potter and the Cursed Child may be adapted for this upcoming series.

In 2019, Daniel Radcliffe revealed that he expects a Harry Potter reboot to happen at some point. However, it sounds like he has no plans to be part of it.

“It will be interesting to see how long those films stay,” he told IGN. “It feels like there’s a sacredness around them at the moment, but that’ll go, the shine will wear off at some point. It’ll be interesting if they reboot them and just do the films again or do a series; I’m fascinated to watch.”

Back in December, Rupert Grint got a lot of fans excited when he revealed whether or not he would ever reprise his Ron Weasley role. Shortly after, he also opened up about the ongoing controversy surrounding J.K. Rowling.

Tom Felton’s grandpa can be seen in the purple hat (on the far right) in the scene below at around 0:45.
