This week, Machine Gun Kelly treated fans to a performance unlike anything they have seen from him before.
During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the rapper showed off his musical chops by playing all of the instruments in a new Tickets To My Downfallacoustic medley.
This week, Machine Gun Kelly added another television appearance to his ever-growing list when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. However, rather than rocking out with Travis Barker, MGK turned into a one-man band for an acoustic medley performance.
While playing multiple instruments, the rapper gave a Tickets To My Downfall medley of some of the album’s biggest songs. He starts off the performance with a piano rendition of “drunk face” before seamlessly transitioning into “all i know,” his collab with Trippie Redd, and ending with “bloody valentine.”
Machine Gun Kelly previously told NME that the project is basically a “pop-punk Grease” and that it was all filmed in four days.
The musical, which marks the directorial debut for MGK, was inspired by a running joke between him and MOD SUN. They frequently use the excuse of needing to watch Grease 2 as a reason to leave certain situations.
“Maybe that joke sparked the whole idea, because now we’re making a new pop-punk Grease,” he said. “It was almost like shooting 14 music videos back-to-back, but with a narrative that’s outside of my personal life stories.”
Machine Gun Kelly and Travis Barker are narrating the musical which focuses on various characters.
“It focuses on other characters,” he said. “And then me and [Barker] are just the narrators. It’s an interesting concept because it hasn’t been done for an album ever, maybe outside of like Pink Floyd’s The Wall.”
Along with all of this, it looks like we could hear a collab with MGK, MOD SUN and Avril Lavigne in the future. Last week, Lavigne confirmed that Machine Gun Kelly has been in the studio with the duo while they work on Lavigne’s new album. Some exclusive photos from their session together show MGK in the recording booth seemingly tracking vocals for the project.
