Last month, Marvel truly broke the internet when it announced a slew of upcoming original series and film release dates. Among the projects announced was the Disney+ series What If….?which is set to tell alternate stories of some major MCU characters.
However, it looks like fans can expect to see more familiar faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe than they may have anticipated.
Although we are still quite a few months away from the release of What If…? sometime this summer, some major details about the Disney+ series have already been spilled. In December, Marvel gave fans an exclusive look at the animated series with a new trailer.
As well, we learned that the animated series will also feature Chadwick Boseman‘s final portrayal as the Black Panther. However, it turns out that these characters won’t be the only faces fans see in What If…?.
A.C. Bradley, the head writer for the animated Marvel series, recently revealed on Twitter that there are plenty of surprises in store. Not only is What If…? filled with some unexpected cameos, but these surprise appearances happen in more than one episode.
“Spoilers! But I can say that there are more than a few surprising MCU cameos…and characters can and do pop up in more than one episode!”

Bradley elaborated more on the series back in September. During an interview with Discussing Film, the Marvel writer revealed that a lot of MCU storylines will collide in the animated show.
“Kevin [Feige] said that we will be exploring every movie in a new way, but not every episode is about one movie if that makes sense,” she said. “On the reel, there is this image of a Star-Lord T’Challa because we wanted to see what if the worlds of Black Panther and the Guardians of the Galaxy collided? That was taking two universes, two to three movies, kind of twisting them in new ways.”
Given all of the amazing Marvel content that is heading to Disney+ over the next few years, the streaming service is making a big change. Starting in March, the Disneyplatform is increasing its subscription fee from $6.99 to $7.99, it’s first price hike since its launch.
