Premiere: MALOTA Debuts “Lampedusa” Single Off ‘The Uninvited Guest’ EP

Italy‘s heavy rocking MALOTA will open the door for the digital release of its new EP ‘The Uninvited Guest‘. Today we have a premiere of the band’s new single for the song “Lampedusa,” which is the opening track off the new EP.

MALOTA is a four-headed beast that was born in 2014. One beast that plays and experiments and four heads with different musical tastes and from different former bands. Four heads convinced that songs can talk about society, social relationships, politics, introspectiveness and not just about finished loves, casual sex, bar counters, fantasy, or gore themes. The band released a self-titled EP (2015) with stoner sounds and a noise/core attitude, and its follow up was the 2018 album ‘Космонавт‘ with psychedelic tints and doom shades.

The band has just signed on with Go Down Records and the upcoming EP is also their label debut. ‘The Uninvited Guest‘ will be coming out as a digital release on November 12th. Some words from MALOTA themselves about the new single:

“We chose the single ‘Lampedusa’ from ‘The Uninvited Guest’ EP because it is the first track of a new chapter of the band. It also talks about a theme that we really care about: the Human Beings. On one side who die in hope of giving a better life to their family by migrating from their homeland and on the other hand the pretty living beings who enjoy seeing cold dead bodies lying on the bottom of the sea.

We would like to dedicate the song to the Human Beings who did not survive the migration, by sea or by land, and to all those who, despite succeeding, are still victims of violence, racism and discrimination.“

MALOTA represents the band’s rebellious attitude, dealing with the personal stories of suffering, death, illness, and isolation that are so typical of today’s society of appearances. All the pain, disgust, and disillusionment of the last two years have been spewed out in the five tracks of this EP.

However, the mood of the songs is never imbued with sadness and nihilism, the pieces are always played with anger to react to the ugliness that surrounds us. Malota knows where it comes from, but has no fixed lair. It wallows in the mud and cleans itself into the sun, scratching the stone. It comes from water and has a heart of fire.

With cover artwork done by Mario Yomi, the EP was recorded, mixed, and mastered by Tommaso Mantelli at Lesder Studio in Winter 2020, in between two pandemic lockdowns.
