Title: デモ 2020
Release: Tape / Digital
Year: 2020
Label: Sabotage Records, Desolate Records, Exotikos Paroxysmos
This demo is in a word, amazing! Four aging hardcore punk folks from Germany paying a well-deserved tribute to the classic Japanese hardcore punk sound.
In brief, Taifun’s demo consists of four pummelling “burning spirits”-inspired hardcore tracks leaving you no room to breathe but only trapping you into the massive typhoon spiral of Side A; and then the Taifun moves you toward the eye of the storm, which is the brutal and ugly noisescape of Side B.
Fast, hard driven punk with raw primal energy is the order of the day as long as you play this fucking loud. Pained vocals, punishing Bastard-esque riffs, and charging drum attack coupled with the solid bass that drives forth the power of the band. All this brought to you by the same people who have been doing intense music since forever in bands like Burial, Bombenalarm, Doomtown, and The Now-Denial.
The B-side of the tape is ten minutes of pure unadulterated noise-piece named after the mythological Greek giant Argus Panoptes. All this means that if 11 minutes of brutal hardcore punk assault are not enough, you’ll be served 10 more minutes of harsh noise to make sure you have a real painful headache. This is sick.
