According to Discogs there are at least five other hardcore punk and metal bands called Bait. My first association is the British band of the same name formed by members of Deviated Instinct in the early 1990s, but punk bands have no trademarks on them and punk is not a competition of who was first or more influential to the scene. This one is about Barcelona’s Bait who released their first demo tape in 2018, bringing to mind some different influences to the front of their thrash driven hardcore punk, and I was instantly hooked on their sound.
Released on a 7-inch vinyl in April 2020 by a whole bunch of international labels, Another End of The World is Possible is such a wonderfully put together record and musically is hell a lot of fun! Four great songs of straightforward, vigorous and infectiously catchy hardcore punk blasting through the stereo with the band’s undiluted DIY ethics on display and all the hallmarks of having a good time: fast crossover riffs, reverb vocals and groovy mid-tempo breakdowns performed with the appropriate amount of energy. You’ve heard it all before, undoubtedly, but if thrashing hardcore is still your thing, this record will leave you drooling for more. Head pounding fury at its finest.
