The state of Desire is a magical one; it can stop, expand, bend and spin time around aimlessly. This bittersweet euphoria of indulging in fantasy while in a desolate state of longing is explored by Denmark’s Mount Villa, with their sensuous new offering, “Wish”.

This track has big late-80s energy, channeling the suy sophistication of Double’s melancholy synth classic Captain of Her Heart; melded with a splash of China Crisis, and a dash of Swing Out Sister, with a more baroque new wave element reminiscent of ABC and Divine Comedy. Dreamy, melancholic, and pictorial, Mount Villa’s fiery taste is reflected in those emotional parts of transformation. Composer Paulo Andruszkow certainly builds a cinematic scene with this haunting melody soaring over a groovy bassline. It is a song of maturity, clarity, and surrender.

The video, directed by Sebastian Bjerregaard, illustrates that liminal space of beautiful yearning: a young man wanders through a sea of fog without purpose or direction. He spends the day in empty landscapes, while dancing with the rising sun to a soaring saxophone.”
