One such defiant upstart was Steve Zing, who found motivation in a legendary horror-punk outfit out of New Jersey called The Misfits. Steve was one of the few youngsters who used to sit on the wall outside the rehearsing room and listen The Misfits rehearsals,” remembers Misfits founder and vocalist Glenn Danzig. Zing would ultimately shape Mourning Noise, a piss-and-vinegar powered bad-to-the-bone troublemaker bunch that, similar to their shock punk tutors, inclined the dull and grotesque – evil spirits, graves, beasts, and so forth. Although brief, Mourning Noise created a commotion to be noticed by Danzig, who later recruited Zing to both Samhain and Danzig.
