DEADLETTER share new single ‘The Snitching Hour’ – the band’s first new music since the release of their acclaimed debut EP Heat!, out now on SO Recordings. Having first been played live on their January BBC6 Music Maida Vale Session, the studio version demarcates the band as ready for the next level.

Channelling all of their energy into the song’s eruptive chorus chant of “Love Thy Neighbour”, ‘The Snitching Hour’ sees the band scratching far below the surface of what we are presented with each day, looking to shine a light onto the emergence of a certain neighbourly distrust and Orwellian curtain twitching.

Lead singer Zac Lawrence comments: “Are we slowly but surely being tacitly tempted into a culture of casual betrayal? The messages we are fed, on the outside, might be read as being solely in the interest of public safety – but take a closer look, and perhaps there’s a more insidious undertone to it all…”

DEADLETTER produce a strain of darkly grooving post-punk (drawing comparisons to Gang of Four and Talking Heads), aiming to explore the darker side of existence through a lens of narrative-driven levity.

They are a band with something to say, but there is an instinctive concentration on movement and danceability within their music which allows them their own space apart from their peers, whilst never cheapening the nuance and grit of their sound.

Childhood friends Zac Lawrence (vocals), Alfie Husband (Drums) and George Ullyott (Bass) graduated from busking around Yorkshire town centres in their early teens, and moved down into a shared house in South London – prompting a certain necessity, and allowing them the space to develop their own personal antithesis to the grind of daily life.

After some line-up experimentation, the addition of Will King (Guitar), Sam Jones (Guitar) and Poppy Richler (Saxophone) completed the group. Bound together by a recognition of frenetic energy and rhythm and leaving any wider ideological goal open to interpretation by the listener, DEADLETTER toured relentlessly throughout 2022, fostering a reputation as one of the most exciting bands in the UK in the process. With support slots including dates with Tropical F**k Storm, Yard Act, and Placebo, they are still clearly not a group to be missed live.

Already they have been championed by The Guardian, So Young, HERO, BBC Radio 1, CLASH, Loud & Quiet, BBC6 Music, and the 6 piece even took to Paris Fashion Week, attending the CELINE menswear S/S 23 launch and playing live at Hedi Slimane’s personal afterparty alongside NYC’s Gustaf and Cumgirl8.

DEADLETTER rounded up their 2022 on an EU arena tour with Placebo, and sold out London’s iconic 100 Club. This Spring they will hit the road again for headline dates through the EU and UK, including next month’s sold-out show at London’s Lafayette, along with slots at a number of festivals including The Great Escape.
