The members of this band have been involved in their local scene for decades, and I was sure to expect quality work from this new hardcore outfit as well. Fast, aggressive and totally intense hardcore thrash is found within these tracks.
The general feeling of their music reminds of the NYHC style, which is my least favorite hardcore subgenre by far. That’s why I generally avoid to review such kind of records, to be fair. This EP has so much more variety and great qualities to be pigeonholed like that, though. Relentlentless in its sheer velocity and in-your-face attitude, this record is a great showcase for straight-forward, old school hardcore with intense riffs and a fair dose of catchiness. Alternating between sheer 19 seconds and minute and a half, with only the last track clocking in above the two-minute mark. No slow all go, tracks like “Scum”, Side by Side”, “Last Warning”, and “Outcast” are all straight-up rippers front to back.
The Price You Pay also features excellent production quality for a debut EP. It doesn’t sound flat and not too overdone either. The only thing that doesn’t stick out to me are the barking Agnostic Front-like vocals, but it’s just my general distaste for that kind of stuff. The songs are short, fast and energetic as it gets, and, I guess, I’ll always love that in hardcore.
In my humble opinion, it’s great to see another raging hardcore band coming out of Greece. Some of my favorite releases have come out of this country recently. Don’t let this pass you by.
