To the uninitiated, your average Hoon show could easily be mistaken for an incredibly loud (and sweaty) art exhibition. Born from the creative minds of the four scummiest suckers in Wollongong, this 4-headed punk rock shocker has clocked up some serious mileage in the last twelve months. The rap sheet includes the release of their explosive single ‘Propane’ (along with a crash-hot music video), a slew of tour dates across the Australian East Coast, and the successful return of their all-ages mini-fest ‘All Of Us’. Now, Hoon are back with their latest single – ACAB – from their forthcoming album. To celebrate in suitable fashion, they’ve thrown one of the biggest post-restriction Wollongong parties yet as they debut multi-venue monolith ‘The Gong Crawl’.

Produced in Sydney at The Brain Studios with Clayton Segelov (Shady Nasty, Dear Seattle, Columbus), ACAB tells a tale that’s tried and true, delivered as fact without a whiff of doubt or hesitation. With no time for beating around the bush, Hoon tear through this no-nonsense pork slasher in just over two fierce minutes. Accompanying the track is another self-produced digital hell-hole of a music video that portrays the band tracked & mapped as they play through a world of virtual reality, clay animation and video synthesis.

“It’s about escaping negative attention and abuse from law enforcement, yet despite doing the right thing; getting it anyway. A common occurrence for ex-offenders, minority groups and particularly our first nations people” Breda

To celebrate the release, Hoon forged a new partnership with local main stage heroes ‘Yours & Owls’ to deliver a six-venue music and arts takeover of their hometown in Wollongong’s CBD.  ‘The Gong Crawl’ featured almost thirty mad acts and over a dozen visual artists split over spaces, venues and outdoor laneways. With a lineup including the likes of Party Dozen, The Moving Stills, Scabz, Sex On Toast and many more.
