If you are a lover of Swedish incendiary kängpunk & turbo-charged crustcore bombardement, then you are probably already well aware of Svaveldioxid’s existence. They’ve been around since 2015, with their 2019’s Dödsögonblick LP instantly heralded as a masterpiece in an already stellar catalogue.
The three new tracks, complemented by a Krunch cover, on this split EP will take the listener into the realms of misery and epic sense of desolation. Rumbling bass lines, pounding d-beats and hellishly disgruntled vocals—pure fucking crustcore! I’m name-calling here, Jocke Andersson’s vokills are full-bore savagery from start to finish and proves him the uncrowned master of brutalist raw hardcore. This is the same guy from Warvictims and he still fucking slays.
Hailing from Winnipeg, Manitoba, the other side of the split contains four raging tracks by Canadian raw punks Skeleton. They play heavy pummeling crustcore that reminds me of an amalgamation of older Doom, State of Fear, and Severed Head of State filtered through a Japanese noise-core strainer. “Burning Hell,” “Death in Progress,” “Your World Is Doomed,” “What Is It You Fear?”… the title tracks speak volumes about the overall message and attitude of this music. This split EP rips hard. Get it while you still can.
