Los Angeles-based dark synth-riot artist Violent Vickie returns with an enigmatic, DIY music video for her track, Circle Square, which appears on her Division LP released last autumn.

The layered, rhythmic black and white collage was directed by AJ Strout (Ex Corpse Art Collective) and, taking cues from limited access to creative paths during the pandemic, was entirely filmed with Vickie’s Photobooth computer app in her apartment during quarantine. Building on the counterculture design and aesthetics presented at LA goth clubs, it perfectly illustrates the gloomy, noisy electronic track. Vickie’s forlorn and haughty vocals conceptually evoke the exploration of the illusion of not belonging.

Violent Vickie’s general sound belongs in the same vein as Crystal Castles, Boy Harsher, Le Tigre, and Miss Kittin. Her unique stamp is marrying dark wave with ambient/experimental sounds…and tying it all together with her ethereal voice.

Violent Vickie consists of Vickie and co-producer/recording guitarist E.  The band has toured with Hanin Elias of Atari Teenage Riot, and shared the stage with Jessie Evans (The Vanishing), Trans X, Them Are Us Too, Aimon & Missing Persons.
