Rising pop-punk outfit When The Sun Sets has released their newest single “Shapeshifter”, featuring Orlando pop-punk phenomenon 408. The single brings modern elements drawing inspiration from more pop-driven artists like Loveless and Magnolia Park.

Featured on Alternative Press and named “A band on a mission” in Chicago Soundcheck by The Daily Herald, proving to the scene that they are here to make a real difference. Over the past four years, When The Sun Sets has networked and connected with thousands of people bringing light to mental health awareness through their music and message.

Vocalist, Zack Baumgartner, adds “Shapeshifter is about the people in your life that are constantly changing up on you. This track brings the most modern form of our sound in a single track paired with a feature with our friends in 408, who are redefining the genre already.”

When The Sun Sets has been working closely with Roye Robley, producer of Meet Me @ The Altar’s Model Citizen and Belmont’s Overstepping amongst many other staple records in the scene (HERE), to create songs that hit deeper than a simple catchy pop song. Incorporating characteristics from the nostalgic pop-punk bands of our past like New Found Glory and Four Year Strong while also fusing modern elements of pop music that is growing in music today, is what keeps this band constantly moving forward in the scene.

The End Sessions highlights the band saying, “Together they create an incredibly addictive sound composed of distorted guitars, powerful riffs, and explosive vocals that will make you sing at the top of your lungs.”

Working side-by-side with Hope For The Day, a pioneering mental health and suicide awareness organization out of Chicago, the group is always looking at outlets to help bring mental health awareness and the outlet of music for it to light. Through five years of releases, the band has written on suicide, eating disorders, family death, amongst many other difficult topics to process in hopes to make said processing significantly easier for anybody that needs help through the hard times. In a live setting, the band builds community through their emotional performance and undeniable energy when bringing these songs to the stage. The band brings the feeling of an arena show into small clubs, which sets them apart immensely in their live show.
