Now, it looks like she is close to finishing her next album. Grimes recently took part in a fan Q&A for the tech company Endel. Last year, she collaborated with Endel for “AI Lullaby,” a staggering 90-minute ambient track created using her own production and vocals.
During the long, and fast-moving, YouTube chat, Grimes confirmed, via Stereogum, that she in the process of finishing up the vocals and mixing for her next album. As well, she hopes to release new music within the next two months and replied with “SOON” when asked when the new material may arrive.
Despite her plans to hopefully release music in the next two months, Grimes says the COVID-19pandemic could delay those plans. There are also some business deals surrounding the album she still needs to work out.
“MUSIC IS READY BUT BUSINESS IS NOT,” she said. “ALSO DUNNO IF CAN SHOOT MUSIC VIDEOS WITH COVID SO WE SEE.”
Elsewhere in the Q&A, Grimes also confirmed she is teaming up with musician Caroline Polachek for a new project. However, she remained rather tight-lipped on what the project is.
“CAROLINE AND I HAVE STARTED A THING BUT SHES RLY GOOD AT MUSIC AND ITS DAMNED COMPLEX! IM LIKE WTF IS THIS.”
During the chat, she also said that she would be willing to travel to Mars “AFTER AGE 50,” even if it would require her to perform “MANUAL LABOUR UNTIL DEATH.” Her partner and SpaceX founder Elon Muskhas openly talked about his desire to take people to Mars through his company.
