The 10-track album explores a range of topics mainly centered around interpersonal relationships. With purposeful lyrics and sonic influence from ’80s artists such as Depeche Mode, LIFEFORMS is as intentional as it is emotional.
“‘Timebomb’ is a special song to me because it represents the emotional equivalent of an armed device about to blow,” Tom DeLonge says about the single in a press release. “I think everyone can relate to the pressure of life bearing down on a young teenage heart.
The song is the opening track on LIFEFORMS, which DeLonge considers to be the result of a lengthy process of achieving his artistic vision.
“It’s taken me a long time to present my art in the way I envisioned over a decade ago,” he says about the album. “LIFEFORMS is the first part of what I saw could be possible then.”
Angels & Airwaves will make an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!Sept. 28 and embark on their tour through the U.S. the day after. Tickets are available here.
