Melodic will be releasing in December of the entire Bog Shed output. It will include their debut EP, 2 albums, full John Peel Sessions and a live and rarities collection which will only be available with the physical product. The band’s genius wonk songs of angular, groove-filled post punk dusted with energetic and often hilarious lyrics were perfect dislocated pop and their dark humour imagery was like The League of Gentlemen twenty years ahead of its time.
The several CD box set compiled everything available and comes with sleeves not from the likes of LTW boss John Robb who discovered the band and released them on his label and gave them lots of support slots with his band The Membranes before they broke through.
For those yet to be initiated… they formed in 1983 in Hebden Bridge which became their home after Mike (bass), Mark (guitar) moved there followed by Phil (vocals) and finally Tris (drums) who they met during a boozy night at the Trades Club. Their first gig came 2 weeks later. They released their debut EP on John Robb’s Vinyl Drip label in ’85 before starting their own label which was home to two further albums, all lauded by John Peel before they called it a day in ’87 when creative tension just became tension.
