Manchester band Cold Comforts return with a new single from their forthcoming album, shifting towards the likes of Death From Above 1979 in their sound.

After a brief urgent hushed chant, the new single from Manchester’s Cold Comforts, I Need It, explodes into a jittering disco-postpunk shakedown, reminiscent of bands like Death From Above 1979, a dash of The Rapture, a sprinkling of LCD Soundsystem. It grooves like the best of their heroes, building up in the bridges towards surging choruses before they drop back into the sputtering beats of the verses. The song is a massive leap forward for the young band and a huge development from what we heard on their debut album.

I Need It is a taste of what’s to come from their second full-length, slated for release next February, the band seemingly settling into a new rhythm. Stripped down to a three-piece, the song is a definite contrast to their previous, more American alt-rock-tinged songs, more playful and joyous in its delivery.

Can’t wait to see what they deliver on the full album.

Cold Comforts are on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and TikTok.
