We are just over a month away from St. Patrick’s Day 2021. However, it looks like Dropkick Murphys are already preparing to rock the holiday next month and they want fans to join them.
On Wednesday, Mar. 17, Dropkick Murphys are taking their live performance worldwide for their Dropkick Murphys St. Patrick’s Day Stream 2021…Still Locked Down virtual event.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, bands have found creative ways of bringing their concerts straight into fans’ homes. For Dropkick Murphys, they’ve treated fans to not one, but two massive livestream events this past year. Now, Dropkick Murphys are preparing for yet another special St. Patrick’s Day virtual concert.
To help celebrate the holiday with their fans around the world, they are taking their live show virtual for a new event. Kicking off of Wednesday, Mar. 17 at 7 P.M. ET/ 4 P.M. PT, Dropkick Murphys are performing fan-favorites as well as selections off of their forthcoming studio album.
The best part? The virtual event is completely FREE. Rather than sell tickets, Dropkick Murphys are asking fans who tune into the livestream to donate what they can. The majority of the proceeds will go towards the band’s employees while a small portion will be donated to charity.
“Instead of charging for tickets, we’re going to ‘pass the virtual hat’ so you can donate what you’d like to help support us in our efforts to keep paying our employees,” Dropkick Murphys founder Ken Casey says. “When we did the first two free live streams for charity, our fans were super generous and we raised lots of money for good causes. But frankly, we’ve been out of work for over a year, so this one, we’ve gotta make [it] about us. Of course, a portion will also go to charity, as always!”
Those who donate before or during the stream will see their names appear on-screen while Dropkick Murphys are performing. Dropkick Murphys are playing a completely socially-distant show on an arena-sized stage with a full LED screen and new video show directed by the band’s longtime friend Josh Adams of Mindpool Live.
For St. Patrick’s Day 2020, Dropkick Murphys held their Streaming Up From Boston livestream event. To date, it’s been watched more than 13 million times and raised more than $60,000 through the band’s charitable organization The Claddagh Fund.
