Evan Peters will play serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer in new Ryan Murphy series
Get ready American Horror Story fans because Evan Peters and Ryan Murphy are teaming up for a chilling new show. According to Deadline, Peters is starring in the Netflix series Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story as the infamous serial killer. The latest project from Murphy is also set to star Niecy Nash, Richard Jenkins, Penelope Ann […]
Dahmer is one of the most notorious serial killers in American history. In 1992, he was convicted of murdering and dismembering 15 boys and men in Milwaukee from the late’70s to early ’90s. He was sentenced to 15 life terms without parole for his crimes. However, after only serving two years of his sentence, Dahmer was murdered in prison in 1994 at the age of 34.
Deadline further reports that the majority of Monster will be told through Dahmer’s perspective as he went on a decade-spanning killing spree before being caught by Wisconsin police. As well, Monster will touch on white privilege and how Dahmer managed to get away with murder because of his clean-cut looks and “good guy” exterior.
Along with Peter’s portrayal of Dahmer, Nash has been cast as Glenda Cleveland, the series’ female lead. Cleveland was Dahmer’s real-life neighbor who contacted the police on numerous occasions regarding his behavior. In fact, Cleveland even alerted the FBI about her neighbor’s suspicious behavior. However, law enforcement never acted on any of her warnings.
Meanwhile, Miller and Jenkins are set to portray Dahmer’s mother Joyce and father Lionel. As well, Brown will play Tracy Edwards, the last victim of Dahmer’s who managed to escape, eventually leading to the serial killer’s arrest. Ford is set to play Chazz, a character whose details have not been announced just yet.
For the 10-episode limited series that spans from the 1960s to the ’90s, Murphy is teaming back up with screenwriter Ian Brennan. Previously, the duo has worked together on Glee, Scream Queens, Hollywood, Ratchedand The Politician. So far, no release date for Monster has been revealed. However, the series is slated to premiere on Netflix.
“At one point,” Lynch told Alternative Press in 2019. “Derf was sitting across from me, I think we were in Dahmer’s house. I had the whole getup on, the glasses and everything. We were in the middle of a conversation, and suddenly he was like, ‘Dude, I’m sorry. You gotta take the glasses off or something. I don’t wanna look at you. You’re reminding me. You look exactly like him, and I’m kinda freaking out.’ That was a pretty surreal experience.”
In November, Murphy unveiled the official poster for season 10. The haunting image features a fang-filled mouth getting a tongue tattoo. Since its release, many fans have theorized that the sharp teeth could be a hint that AHS season 10 includes mermaids. However, Murphy has yet to confirm or deny these theories.
Then, in January, it was revealed that the Provincetown Select Board approved Murphy’s plans to film a project called “Pilgrim.” The project is scheduled to film in Cape Cod from the start of February until late March.
According to CBS Boston, it was not disclosed whether or not the filming is for American Horror Story or another project. However, Murphy has been subtly tagging posts related to season 10 with Provincetown. This has led to speculation the Massachusetts town maybe one of the season’s locations.
“There have been many inquires for information about the Ryan Murphy filming of ‘American Horror Story’ season 10,” interim town manager Charles Sumner told CBS Boston. “The only information we have shared with the press is 20th Century Fox Television has applied for the filming of the production ‘Pilgrim.’”
Earlier this week, Murphy confirmed that the new season of American Horror Story is called Double Feature. In an eerie trailer, the creator teases that the season has two different storylines—one by the sea and one by the sand.
