On Mother’s Day, FX released a teaser trailer for Dear Mama. The five-part documentary series will focus on Tupac Shakur and his mother, Afeni.
Dear Mama is directed by Allen Hughes and premieres this fall. The trailer features images of Tupac overlapping in a collage-like fashion. Additionally, a voice-over details how Afeni would challenge her son to debates to teach him how to advocate for his beliefs.

“It was my responsibility to teach Tupac how to survive his reality,” she says in the trailer. “So, Tupac do something wrong? Take your little sorry self in that corner, get The New York Times and let’s have a debate about it. Not a discussion, a debate. Let me hear what your idea is. Stand up. Defend it.”
After each episode premieres on FX, it will be available to stream on Hulu the following day.
