Emerging alt-rock artist Magic Whatever (aka Trever Stewart) shared a new single called “Monsters,” and Underoath’s Aaron Gillespie lends some magic to the song.

“‘Monsters’ is my most personal track to date. It centers around my experience growing up in a family crippled by drug addiction and untreated mental health issues,” Stewart explains. “Writing this track was my way of releasing the hurt and taking my power back as I navigate a life beyond drug addiction as a coping mechanism.

“Having Aaron Gillespie join me on this track is the highest honor for me,” he continues. “Discovering his band Underoath as a young musician was a pivotal point for me in my upbringing. I wanted to emulate his voice until I found my own. To come full circle and now have a song together makes my teenage self so happy and proud.”

Meanwhile, Gillespie has certainly kept busy, championing both emerging and veteran artists. In the past few years, he’s appeared on Charlotte Sands’ “Out of My Head,” SeeYouSpaceCowboy’s “Intersecting Storylines to the Same Tragedy,” and Silverstein’s “Infinite,” among others.
