If you’ve been feeling compelled to hop in a pick-up, drive up the interstate, check into a retro motel and pretend to be somebody else for a little while — that would check out, because new Lana Del Rey is in the air.

Today, Lana Del Rey announced her ninth studio album, Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd, is due out March 10, 2023. It comes just two years after the singer-songwriter released her LPs Chemtrails over the Country Club and Blue Banisters in 2021. The cover art, which features a ’60s-ish font and a black-and-white, vintage-looking photo of LDR donned in bows, boosts appearances by Jon Batiste, Bleachers, Father John Misty, SYML, as well as an intriguing one with rapper Tommy Genesis, and others. It also reveals production from Jack Antonoff (who the singer has worked with ever since her acclaimed 2019 record Norman Fucking Rockwell!), and other frequent collaborators like Mike Hermosa, Drew Erickson, Zach Dawes and Benji.

Along with the announcement, LDR dropped the title track, which was written by her and Hermosa and produced by her, as well as Antonoff, Erickson and Dawes. Like many of her songs, over lush strings and piano, she sings of places that may or may not exist, and of her own mythos (“There’s a girl who sings ‘Hotel California’/Not because she loves the notes or sounds that sound like Florida/It’s because she’s in a world preserved, only a few have found the door”). It then crescendos with guitars and additional vocals as she pleads not to be forgotten. (How could we ever really, though?)

The record is available for presale now, including several LDR store-exclusive vinyl with alternative covers. In the meantime, you can listen to “Did you know that there’s a tunnel under Ocean Blvd” below.
