Madonna, who has been in the headlines more than perhaps any other singer lately is today paying tribute to her late brother, Anthony Ciccone. This is perhaps one of Madonna’s tamer headlines of late, and one certainly not up for negative discussion.
As per Page Six, Madonna wrote regarding her brother:
“Thank you for blowing my mind as a young girl and introducing me to [jazz musicians] Charlie Parker [and] Miles Davis,” the “Vogue” singer, who is now 64, wrote on her Instagram Story Monday alongside a group photo featuring her late sibling.
She continued by shouting out other things her brother taught her, including religions Buddhism and Taoism, and writers Charles Bukowski, Richard Brautigan and Jack Kerouac.
“You planted many important seeds,” Madge concluded the tribute.
Madonna’s eldest sibling died on Feb. 24, the year of our Lord, 2023, at the age of 66.
A source told us that Anthony’s relationship with his siblings had been strained, as he struggled with alcoholism for several years.
“Most family members had a difficult relationship with him due to his disease,” the insider shared.
“Madonna helped to support her brother when he would accept that support. During his final months, he was in contact with family and Madonna, but this past week, he refused the support the rehab facility offered, and it was clear he was ready to move on.”
His cause of death has not yet been revealed.
