Every week, we’ll be posting a new illustration by David Lester. The Mecca Normal guitarist is visually documenting people, places and events from his band’s 40-year run, with text by vocalist Jean Smith.

Presenting unrelated artifacts that prompt one to regard them as newly cohesive isnt rooted in the jiggery-pokery of parlour tricks, but it does help if there is a fairly wide garden path available to lead visitors down.

This pairing may have me stumped. We have a song about two artists making a life together, and we have an illustration of what looks like a man and a woman arguing. Oh, wait.
