Randy Edelman: The Beast Inside original film score

The self-exorcism themed horror thriller directed by Jim Towns and starring Sadie Katz, Laurene Landon and Vernon Wells was honored to have the iconic music composer Randy Edelman both write and perform the instrumentation for the feature. The austere chiller follows Anne’s demonic quest to rid herself of a family inherited possession threatening to kill her and then move on to her young son. Both the film and the soundtrack are set to be released later this year.

The soundtrack carefully mastered for the The Beast Inside takes us on an enforced visit to a dark, sinister and ominous realm. Randy keeps us waiting for the flame of heaven to rise…and release a single spark of divinity….however the dark ambience, the drones and discordant overtones forever evolve with dissonant harmonies and bold sounds that vibrate with raw power…. But the darkness is beautiful, how else could he shine? There is a sweetness to it, and some of the most breathtaking music ever written… The landscape shifts between sunshine and shade…It takes courage and strength to be empathetic when writing music for a horror flick, but he accomplishes that. He finds the angels in the quietest corners, caught unaware, and filling your heart in ways you can’t imagine….

And then there is a sudden surprise in addition to the foreboding music, the Gregorian chants, the euphoric tones, and the chariots of fire that God or the beast propels. Randy includes his latest pop hit Pretty Girls delicately placed right where it belongs. “The true man wants two things: danger and play. Randy takes off the ghastly, eerie masks that we fear the most, that which we cannot live without and that we cannot live with… There are always shadows but they fall behind us, and echoes that fade upon the air… A vanguard in the music and film music industry with over 100 blockbuster films to his credit including Last of the Mohicans, Dragonheart, Ghostbusters ll, While You Were Sleeping, and a parade of others… Thus far I believe the soundtrack of The Beast Inside is his very best.
