This week, the Ally Coalition held its 7th Annual Talent Show. Hayley Williams, Bleachers, Maggie Rogers and Lana Del Rey were just a few of the artists to take part in the virtual event that benefited homeless LGBTQ+ youth.
For her performance, Williams decided to take on a Massive Attack classic in a gripping new cover.
Last week, Hayley Williams debuted her new acoustic EP Petals For Armor: Self-Serenades which includes the new original track “Find Me Here.” However, the Paramore frontwoman decided to not perform any of her Petals For Armor material for the Ally Coalition’s 7th Annual Talent Show. Instead, Williams gave a gripping performance of Massive Attack’s “Teardrop.”
Equipped in a bathrobe and towel, Williams performed the 1998 classic while lights continuously changed colors around her. The emotional cover offered a different take of the Massive Attack track while showing off Williams’ vocal range.
Williams wasn’t the only artist to take part in the Ally Coalition event. The entire virtual talent show was streamed on Jack Antonoff‘s Twitch account. As well, Wallows, the Chicks and Clairo were among the musicians to give powerful performances. The entire event benefited Ally Coalition’s mission to support homeless LGBTQ+ youth.

According to Jack Antonoff, the event ended up raising $350,000 for homeless LGBTQ+ youth shelters.
“that’s a wrap! thank you to everyone who performed and worked behind the scenes to make the 7th annual @allycoalition talent show such a beautiful night. we raised 350k for homeless lgbtq shelters because of you all. see you next year, maybe in person.”

Williams’ Massive Attack cover is available to stream below. You can learn more about the Ally Coalition here.
Williams has been cranking out a lot of tunes and performances for fans recently. Shortly before releasing Petals For Armor: Self Serenades, Williams performed some of her solo songs live for the first time during NPR‘s Tiny Desk (Home) concert series. Along with Paramore’s touring musician Joey Howard, Julien Baker, Becca Mancari and Aaron Steele, Williams performed “Dead Horse,” “Pure Love” and other tracks off of Petals For Armor.
Williams’ latest EP arrived just days after Paramore seemingly confirmed they are working on their follow-up to 2017’s After Laughter. Earlier this year, rumors emerged that the trio are working on new music after some changes were made to their social media platforms. Then, a recent comment from Jimmy Fallon eventually caused Paramore to share a cryptic message that fans think confirms new music is arriving soon than we think.
